No raindrops on roses (we’ve been getting snow) or whiskers on kittens (ours ran away), bright copper kettles (I have stainless) or warm woolen mittens (Thinsulate gloves around these parts). No brown paper packages tied up with string (but I do have an ongoing affair with Amazon, and its brown cardboard boxes with the smile on the side).
No, my favorite things are quite different. I have a lot of them. And I want to feature some of them here, in case anyone out there is looking for similar solutions. So here’s what I love today:
These boxes from Ikea. I just put them together last night, and they are adorable. They are now going to hold all the stuff I don’t know where to put, but don’t want to throw away, like school projects, awards, report cards, and the odd pet.
I have a couple of white ones, which are actually tall, skinny cuties that will hold hanging files; they will keep my sheet music organized once and for all. And then I have some paper-size boxes like these here, only I got them in a white and black stripe. Oh, the humanity! You, too, can lock away your clutter and make it look intentional. And at $5.99 for a 2-pack, you can’t go wrong.
While I was at Ikea, I spent a whopping $25 on a small bookcase, in which I will place the aforementioned sheet music and all of its siblings. Right now they are stacked in more or less orderly fashion on top of my piano, because the current bookcase is full. You might say, “Hey, Sassy, maybe it’s time to get rid of some of your music,” but to that I must reply, “Um, my music keeps me sane, and you would not want to see me musically unmedicated.”
As you can see, I’m trying to dig out from under the reams of paper that are constantly flooding in through my front door. One of my problems is, although my desk is largish, most of the surface is taken up with my monitor and docking station. So I end up with stacks of paper, mail and magazines haphazardly squeezed in wherever there’s room. I’ve been to several office supply stores, trying to find the perfect solution, but as usual Amazon came to my rescue. And so I have on order, right this minute, this beautiful little lifesaver: This is what it looks like all opened up:
It will hang on my wall, next to my desk, and keep my important stuff handy. And if I need to take the files anywhere, I just take it off the wall and fold it up, close the cover, and voila. Portable file. It’s two, two, two products in one! I’m giddy about it. I also considered this little beauty:
So many fabulous options, what’s a sassy, organized girl to do?!

I have and Ikea box kinda like that. I LOVE it and want more!
I went to Ikea last week at Josh’s request. He wanted to run around in the playroom, which gave me one full hour to myself. I took my camera and enjoyed browsing their many rooms. Oh, I have so many great ideas for my future home!
Anyway, I came across these boxes and put them in my basket. I so love them! But I decided to wait until we’re in a permanent residence so I actually have a place to put them.
I’m totally buying the hanging folder. It looks so wonderful! Love this post, and all things organization
